Key Concepts
Before using the waiting room management interface, it's helpful to understand the following key concepts:
Waiting Room Design Object
A Waiting Room Design Object is a template that defines how the waiting room UI appears to users. Each waiting room in the list represents one design object that can be:
- Created: Build a new design from scratch or from a template
- Edited: Modify the design, settings, and appearance
- Duplicated: Copy to create a new design object
- Deleted: Remove when no longer needed (except Sample waiting rooms)
Segment Connection
Segment Connection displays which segments are currently using a waiting room. This is a many-to-many (n:m) relationship:
- One waiting room can be connected to multiple segments
- One segment can select one waiting room (for Waiting status) and one block room (for Block status)
Important: Connection management is done in segment settings (Waiting Room Application), not in the waiting room management screen. The waiting room list only displays connection information (read-only).
Sample Waiting Rooms
Sample Waiting Rooms are default system waiting rooms (one for each of the 4 types) automatically created when a project is created. They cannot be deleted but can have their names modified.
Entry Status and Waiting Room Types
Understanding how entry status determines which waiting room type is displayed:
-
Waiting Status → Shows one of these waiting room types:
- Waiting Room
- Pre-waiting Room (if pre-waiting reservation is configured)
- Post-waiting Room (if post-waiting reservation is configured)
-
Block Status → Shows Block Room
The segment's Entry Status Setting determines when to show waiting/block rooms, while Waiting Room Application in segment settings determines which specific waiting room design to use.
